The decaying residence of the deceased shamed television personality Rolf Harris has been successfully offloaded. Situated by the Thames, the property served as the location for some of the sexual offenses mentioned in his legal case. Despite being listed at £1.95 million, the house failed to meet its minimum price at an auction last month, with bidding starting at £1.4 million.

Bidding stalled at £1,540,000, falling short of the reserve price. Interested buyers were informed that the bid was below the guide price, and although the £1,540,000 offer was “very near,” it failed to attract additional attention. An online listing now confirms that the property was sold post-auction on March 26, 2026, for an undisclosed sum.

Harris and his wife Alwen acquired the residence in 1980, but it deteriorated following his demise from neck cancer in May 2023. Alwen, who supported him during his legal battles, passed away the following year. Their daughter, Bindi, inherited the estate, including the property, and most of Harris’s £16 million fortune. Records from the Land Registry indicated that there were no outstanding mortgages on the Bray, Berkshire property following its sale.

The title deeds for Highlands Cottage also revealed that the residence includes fishing rights, with a clause stating: “The land has the benefit of the right of fishing in and over the said moiety of the bed of the River Thames.” The house boasts four bedrooms, including a spacious master suite, multiple balconies with river views, and 6440 square feet of living space.

Harris, known as a television personality and renowned artist from the 1960s until his arrest, was sentenced to over five years in prison in July 2014. He was convicted of twelve indecent assaults against four young girls, some of which occurred at the Bray property between 1968 and 1986.

During his time at Bullingdon jail near Oxford, Harris, dubbed “Willy Wonka” by fellow inmates, earned the nickname due to his habit of giving out chocolate bars and signed pictures during games of dominoes.
