The Red Arrows and America’s Blue Angels showcased a stunning joint aerobatic display over the US skies. The RAF team flew in formation with the US Air Force’s Blue Angels above Boston, Massachusetts, and participated in a multi-formation flypast in Brunswick, Maine on Friday, July 10.

This display is part of the Red Arrows’ month-long tour of the United States to commemorate 250 years of American independence. The tour includes appearances in Wisconsin, Maine, Maryland, and Michigan. The RAF aerobatic team has a packed 2026 schedule with displays planned across the UK and internationally.

As part of Operation Eagle Hawk, the Red Arrows traveled to the US for displays and flypasts across several states, including New York, Wisconsin, Maine, Maryland, and Michigan. This visit was part of the UK Armed Forces’ contribution to the anniversary celebrations, alongside other military elements.

Air Vice-Marshal Mark Jackson stated, “We are honored to participate in these special Fourth of July events in the US’s 250th year. The Red Arrows’ precision and skill aim to excite and inspire the audience attending these shows.”

During the visit, the Red Arrows joined a massive flypast over New York, featuring over 150 aircraft from around the world. The team’s trademark red, white, and blue smoke added to the spectacle as they flew over Manhattan during the Fourth of July celebrations.

The journey to the US was carefully planned, with the Hawk T1 jets making stops in Stornoway, Iceland, Greenland, and Canada for refueling due to their limited range. Wing Cdr Jon Bond highlighted the challenges of the transit but expressed pride in participating in such a significant occasion.

Supporting the Red Arrows were transport aircraft carrying engineers, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring the smooth operation of the display team throughout their US tour. Wing Cdr Jon Bond emphasized the importance of the support aircraft in ensuring a safe and successful journey.

Aside from aerial displays, the Red Arrows engaged in ground events, meeting with young people, aviation enthusiasts, and local communities. Sessions focused on STEM subjects to inspire future aviation professionals.

The Red Arrows’ US visit was part of their extensive 2026 display season, which includes appearances in Europe after returning to Britain. The team is set to perform at various airshows and events, both domestically and internationally, showcasing their skills and fostering international partnerships.
