A painter and decorator became aggressive towards a parking warden, throwing a brush at her after receiving a ticket. Craig Ashton, 42, directed a string of profanities at the warden, Mandy Williams, before physically assaulting her by throwing the brush, causing damage to her trousers. The incident occurred in Llanidloes, Powys, where Williams had issued Ashton a £60 ticket while he was working.

Ashton, who admitted to common assault, was initially offered a conditional caution but ended up in court due to non-compliance. He was ordered to pay £189 compensation to Williams. During the court proceedings, Ashton expressed regret for his actions, acknowledging the inappropriateness of his behavior. He cited frustration with the inconsistency of parking enforcement in the small community as a contributing factor but accepted responsibility for his actions.

Despite being struck by the paint brush, Williams did not sustain any physical injuries. In a statement read in court, she revealed feeling unsafe in Llanidloes for work and considering a change in employment due to the incident’s impact on her job performance and well-being. The court emphasized the importance of controlling emotions in such situations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
