Vladimir Putin has been urged by an opposition MP to halt the ongoing conflict in Ukraine immediately, warning that Russia is teetering on the edge of widespread social unrest. Vyacheslav Markhayev, a former police general, called on Putin and his government to reconsider their actions before the situation in the country spirals into complete chaos.

The criticism of Putin comes as Ukraine gains momentum in the war, causing significant casualties and severe fuel shortages in Russia. Markhayev expressed concern over the escalating violence, emphasizing the need for a strategic plan to end the military operation in alignment with Russia’s national interests.

The situation intensified as Ukraine’s strategic moves threatened to cut off Putin’s access to Crimea, with continuous drone strikes transforming highways into dangerous zones. Markhayev condemned the reckless deployment of young Russian soldiers by Putin, highlighting the tragic loss of lives in the conflict.

Furthermore, the MP accused Putin of governing Russia in a manner akin to a hostile occupation, exploiting resources and wealth for the benefit of the ruling elite while neglecting the welfare of ordinary citizens. He criticized the excessive focus on personal enrichment and luxury for the wealthy few, juxtaposed against the financial struggles faced by pensioners who are burdened with exorbitant utility bills.

Despite the ongoing war, the number of Russian billionaires has surged to a new high, accumulating vast wealth that dwarfs the national budget. Markhayev underscored the rampant corruption and economic disparities perpetuated by Putin’s regime, urging for concrete actions to address the pressing needs of the populace.

As tensions escalate and external pressures mount, the MP warned of the looming threat of a social implosion and the potential collapse of Russian statehood. He implored the authorities to reassess their priorities and make decisions that prioritize the well-being of the people over personal gains and geopolitical ambitions.

In light of the current challenges facing Russia, Markhayev’s call for a shift in leadership approach and policy direction underscores the urgent need for a recalibration of priorities to avert further turmoil and safeguard the nation’s stability.
