Police are currently investigating the mysterious death of a woman whose body was discovered in a public restroom near a historic site in Banbury. Authorities cordoned off the area near Banbury Cross in Banbury, Oxfordshire, at 8:20 am yesterday.

Thames Valley Police is urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. The police confirmed the incident in a statement, mentioning that the woman’s body was found in the public toilets on West Bar Street near Banbury Cross earlier that morning.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and the woman’s identity remains unknown. Individuals who may have details about the incident are encouraged to contact the police at 101, quoting reference 43260255904.

Banbury Cross, a 16-meter neo-Gothic monument, is well-known for inspiring the nursery rhyme “Ride a cock-horse to Banbury Cross.” The current structure was constructed in 1859 to commemorate the wedding of Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter.
