Sophie Cooper, 21, faced a worsening eczema condition in 2023, seeking medical help from her GP who prescribed multiple courses of steroid cream. Despite the treatments, her skin condition persisted, leading to the onset of topical steroid withdrawal symptoms.
Having been uninformed about the risks associated with steroid cream usage, Sophie faced excruciating discomfort as her skin deteriorated, covering almost 95% of her body. Struggling with debilitating symptoms like intense itching, inflammation, and skin shedding, Sophie’s daily life became a challenge. Her condition not only affected her physical health but also took a toll on her mental well-being.
Despite her struggles, Sophie has shown remarkable strength by participating as a Miss Great Britain Kent finalist, determined not to let her skin condition hinder her aspirations.
