Donald Trump praised Rory McIlroy for winning his second Masters title. McIlroy, who started the day tied with Cam Young, shot a one-under 71 to defend his Masters crown with a 12-under total score.
Despite a strong performance by Scottie Scheffler, McIlroy held onto his lead. Tiger Woods is the only other player to have successfully defended their Masters title with back-to-back wins in 2001 and 2002.
McIlroy has now become one of only four golfers in history to defend their Augusta National title, joining Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, and Woods. With this victory, he has secured his sixth major title and second Masters win, putting past Augusta heartbreak behind him.
President Trump, among many others, congratulated McIlroy on his achievement, praising his ability to perform under pressure and labeling him a legend. The PGA Tour is scheduled to return to Trump National Doral’s Blue Monster course for the 2026 Cadillac Championship.
After celebrating his latest Masters triumph, McIlroy, a career grand slam winner, is now considered one of the most successful Masters champions. He expressed his joy at winning back-to-back green jackets and highlighted the perseverance that led to his success.
