The accused attacker, identified as Jalani Bluett, was swiftly apprehended by the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office following the incident. Bluett faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon and causing serious bodily harm.
The victim, Jacob Smith, suffered burns to his face, neck, arm, and back, amounting to second-degree burns covering 22% of his body. According to Jacob’s mother, Amber Smith, he was attacked while preparing to finish his work shift. The pain he is enduring is so intense that he requires specialized care in the ICU for pain management.
