The quake, measuring approximately 8.2 in magnitude, was felt in Davao City around 7:40 am local time on Monday, June 8, 2026. Residents experienced intense tremors and evacuated buildings as a safety measure. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre reported the earthquake as an 8.2 magnitude event at a depth of 63km in Honolulu. The Japanese Meteorological Society has issued a tsunami advisory for coastal areas in the southern regions of Japan. New Zealand Civil Defence has also issued possible tsunami warnings for multiple countries. The earthquake in Mindanao, Philippines had a depth of 10km (6.2 miles).
