Firefighters rushed to a massive fire near a Marks & Spencer store in Somerset. Local residents were advised to keep doors and windows shut due to the billowing smoke.
The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service deployed ten fire engines to combat the flames at an abandoned building on Kingsway. Crews from various fire stations were dispatched to the scene following reports earlier in the day.
Images captured the three-story warehouse engulfed in flames as firefighters worked to bring the situation under control. The fire service mentioned having multiple pumping and special appliances on site, using three main jets to fight the fire and setting up cordons due to the building’s instability.
By late afternoon, additional support including water carriers and aerial ladder platforms from neighboring fire services had been mobilized. The public was urged to keep windows and doors closed in the vicinity due to the smoke.
