Police are on the lookout for a man who escaped from a prison van en route to court. Stephen Grzyb, a 22-year-old individual from the West Derby/Dovecot area of Liverpool, managed to flee while being transferred from Belle Vale custody suite to Liverpool Magistrates Court by GEOAmey, a company specializing in prisoner transport.
The escape occurred as the van reached the court premises around 10am, with Grzyb making a dash down Red Cross Street towards The Strand. He was being transported for a domestic-related burglary charge and is described as a white male with short dark hair, last seen donning a navy T-shirt and navy shorts.
Merseyside Police issued a statement appealing for information to locate Grzyb following his escape. They are conducting extensive investigations and ensuring the safety of the alleged victim in the case.
T/Inspector Bethan Hannon emphasized the importance of public cooperation in reporting any sightings of Grzyb to facilitate his prompt return to custody. The police are actively searching for him through foot patrols and CCTV surveillance across the city center.
