Authorities have publicized surveillance footage of an individual they wish to converse with in connection to an assault on a woman aboard the subway. The incident reportedly occurred while the woman was traveling alone on a Bakerloo Line train between Waterloo and Lambeth North around 11:40 pm on Saturday, July 11.
According to the British Transport Police, the woman was approached by a man who proceeded to expose himself, pull her to the ground, and attempt to assault her. The woman managed to resist and flee the train at Lambeth North station, where she promptly sought help from station personnel.
The suspect purportedly remained on the train after the incident and disembarked at Elephant and Castle Underground station. Detectives have released the CCTV images of the individual to potentially aid their investigation, emphasizing that he has not been formally accused of any wrongdoing.
Authorities have been tracing the man’s movements and believe he was present at Oxford Circus Underground station before the assault and at Piccadilly Circus Underground station afterward. Detective Sergeant Krishan Appannah of the BTP stated, “Our priority is to support the victim in the aftermath of this appalling incident. We urge the public to assist us in identifying the individual in the CCTV footage as it could be crucial to our investigation. There is a possibility that he may be homeless.”
“Anyone who can recognize the individual in the images is encouraged to text us his name at 61016, quoting reference 948 of July 11. The information he possesses could significantly aid our ongoing inquiry,” added Appannah.
Individuals with relevant information or witnesses are urged to contact British Transport Police at 0800 40 50 40 or report anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
