A man, aged 23, has passed away during a police arrest outside a popular pub in Adelaide, Australia. The police were called due to reports of a man, potentially armed with a knife, engaging in a fight and causing damage to vehicles. Upon arrival, the police found the man holding a piece of wood, which he dropped when confronted by the officers.

During a press conference, a police spokesperson described the incident as dynamic and stated that the arrest was recorded on the officers’ body-worn cameras. The incident occurred between the Elephant and Castle Hotel and Lexus Adelaide dealership, as reported by MailOnline.

The spokesperson mentioned that the man became unresponsive while struggling with the police during the arrest. Despite the man’s threats to stab officers and attempts to bite them, no taser was used during the arrest. Initially, two officers responded to the incident and were later joined by two more officers. The police confirmed that the responding officers were experienced and assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted.

A press release from the South Australia Police stated that a report for the State Coroner is being prepared following the man’s death. The man had been behaving disorderly and damaging vehicles before becoming unresponsive during the arrest. Despite resuscitation efforts by both police and paramedics, the man passed away at the scene. The incident will also be subject to a Police Commissioner’s Inquiry.
