Approximately 57,000 enthusiastic runners are set to complete the London Marathon on Sunday, including six remarkable individuals known as the ‘Ever Presents.’ These dedicated runners have participated in every marathon since its inception in 1981, showcasing unwavering loyalty and determination.
The Ever Presents, now reduced to a core group of six members, have a combined age of 465, with some in their 80s. Among them are retired professionals such as a GP, a teacher, a training adviser, an IT consultant, a headteacher, and a school bursar. Over the years, they have witnessed the marathon evolve from a modest event to a massive spectacle, attracting over a million applicants this year.
Despite facing health challenges and injuries over the decades, the Ever Presents have remained committed to the marathon. Each year, they receive a guaranteed spot from the London Marathon organizers as a tribute to their exceptional dedication. While the group originally had 42 members, only six remain today.
