In the video, one of the teenagers gestured rudely, while others continued to be disruptive. A teacher from the group rudely dismissed the woman’s concerns, sparking further outrage. The footage garnered 16 million views and drew strong reactions online, with many criticizing the teenagers’ lack of manners.
Social media users called for the teenagers to show respect and manners, emphasizing that money alone does not warrant disrespectful behavior. Some individuals identified and targeted the teenagers’ schools on social media, while others gathered outside their hotel demanding an apology.
In response to the international backlash, the Italian embassy in Bangkok released a video featuring three adults and a teenager apologizing for the group’s behavior. They expressed regret for disrespecting Thai culture and people, acknowledging their mistake and seeking forgiveness. The adults vowed to educate the students on cultural respect and announced their prompt return to Italy.
