An easyJet flight had to make an emergency diversion due to a disruptive passenger who allegedly spat at another traveler, causing chaos onboard. Startled passengers witnessed alarming behavior from an intoxicated man and woman during the journey from Gatwick to Antalya, turning a family holiday trip into a frightening experience at 30,000 feet.

The individuals, not traveling together but hailing from Kent, reportedly consumed alcohol before the situation escalated. Witnesses mentioned the woman drinking vodka straight from a bottle and spitting at a fellow passenger, leading to a confrontation. The male passenger, boasting about a previous jail term, made threatening remarks to those who objected, escalating tensions further.

Describing the incident as terrifying, a witness stated that when asked to stop drinking, a disturbance erupted, forcing passengers to intervene in a chaotic scene reminiscent of the Wild West. The escalating situation prompted the Airbus A320 to divert to Kosovo, where authorities removed both individuals from the flight.

The disruption left other passengers shaken and caused a three-hour delay before the flight finally reached Antalya. In response, easyJet emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards disruptive behavior, prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew.

This incident comes amid increasing calls for stronger measures against unruly passengers, with suggestions that airlines may support broader bans on abusive flyers in the UK. Another similar incident in 2023 involved a drunken passenger causing outrage by urinating in the cabin mid-flight, leading to a dramatic diversion and police intervention upon landing.

Passengers were shocked as the situation rapidly deteriorated, with crew members struggling to control the disruptive individual. Concerns over safety prompted the pilot to divert the aircraft to ensure passenger wellbeing. Witnesses recounted the distressing experience, with some passengers assisting in restraining the disruptive individual while others shielded children from the disturbance.

Upon landing, authorities removed the passenger for further action. Airlines like easyJet have reiterated their firm stance against disruptive behavior, warning of severe consequences such as bans and legal action for offenders.
