Ikea has announced the discontinuation of select items from its popular Malm flat-pack furniture line, which has been a fan favorite for nearly 25 years. The phase-out process will begin this summer and is expected to be completed by 2027.
The Swedish retailer has assured customers that the discontinued Malm pieces will be replaced with new options designed to better align with contemporary preferences and lifestyle needs. Prices for Malm products range from £15 for a glass top to £426 for a complete bedroom set, including a bed frame and multiple drawers.
The Malm collection features a variety of furniture pieces such as chest of drawers, dressing tables, and bed frames. Ikea has not disclosed specific details on which items within the range will be discontinued, but plans to provide further updates soon.
In response to the changes, an Ikea spokesperson emphasized the brand’s commitment to evolving its product offerings to better meet the evolving demands of consumers worldwide.
Customers have shared mixed reactions to the news, with some expressing nostalgia for the Malm range and its enduring popularity. Meanwhile, Ikea has introduced a new promotion for its Family members, offering 50% off main meals every Wednesday until June 24 as part of a special midweek celebration event known as “Little Saturday” or Lillördag in Swedish.
Included in the promotional menu are various affordable meal options, such as pasta with tomato sauce, mac and cheese, sausage and mash, meatballs and chips, smoky aubergine and goat’s cheese tart, fish and chips, and chicken schnitzel with chips and peas. Additionally, Ikea will feature £5 homeware deals and monthly discounts on selected products for its customers.
