Renowned horse racing legend Frankie Dettori was hospitalized after a harrowing incident where his vehicle overturned following a collision in Newmarket, Suffolk. The retired Italian jockey sustained injuries including a broken thumb and several fractured ribs during the crash.

Reports indicate that Dettori’s car was struck on the rear passenger side, causing it to spin and flip over. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported Dettori to the hospital for medical attention. Currently, the 55-year-old athlete remains under observation at the medical facility.

In a statement released by his management, H Talent Management, it was confirmed that Dettori was involved in a road traffic accident. The statement detailed the circumstances of the crash, his injuries, and emphasized the need for privacy and respect during his recovery period.

Frankie Dettori, who recently retired after a distinguished career spanning nearly 40 years, is celebrated for his remarkable achievements in British flat racing. Notably, he clinched 288 Grade 1 race victories and made history by riding seven winners in a single day at Ascot in 1996.

Following his retirement in 2025, Dettori now resides in California with his family, having bid farewell to the racing world after a successful career that solidified his place as a racing legend. This recent incident is not the first time Dettori has faced a vehicular mishap, as he previously survived a plane crash in 2000, showcasing his resilience in the face of adversity.
