A drug dealer, described as “hapless,” has been sentenced to four years in prison after being apprehended by police with 150 grams of cocaine. Darren Eastwood, 31, pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine when authorities discovered the Class A drug and £79,500 in cash at two locations in Sevenoaks, Kent. Eastwood’s inadvertent phone call to the emergency line 112 revealed his involvement in illicit activities, as the phone had been used to communicate with drug users.
Kent Police disclosed that an examination of call data linked the phone number to Eastwood and identified it as his personal device. Further investigation revealed that both Eastwood’s phone and another registered to him were used in the same areas, including instances where both phones dialed the same number. Additionally, a message promoting “Christmas deals” to drug users was found dated December 24, 2025.
The critical call to 112, typically used by EU visitors for emergencies, occurred on January 11 with only background noise heard by operators. Upon reconnecting with the number, police encountered a man who claimed it was a pocket dial but refused to disclose his identity.
Eastwood was arrested on Hitchen Hatch Road on January 16 with cocaine wraps, two phones, and cash totaling £79,500. He confessed to being involved in the supply of class A drugs, possession with intent to supply, and possession of criminal money during his court appearance on January 19.
Detective Constable Mark Simcox emphasized that the phone call “sealed his fate” by confirming suspicions of Eastwood’s drug dealings. Following his admission of guilt, Eastwood was convicted at Maidstone Crown Court and sentenced to four years in jail. Det Con Simcox highlighted the dedication of law enforcement in combating drug networks and expressed satisfaction in removing drugs from circulation and apprehending criminals.
