A tragic incident occurred in Egypt where a 57-year-old German tourist passed away after being bitten by a snake that had slithered up his pants during a snake-charming event at a hotel in Hurghada, a popular beach resort on the Red Sea. The man, who hailed from the Unterallgaeu district in Bavaria, was on vacation with two family members when the unfortunate incident took place.

Reports suggest that during the performance, the victim allowed a snake, believed to be a cobra, to crawl up his trousers, resulting in a venomous bite to his leg. German police confirmed that the tourist displayed signs of poisoning and had to be resuscitated before being rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to the snakebite.

Authorities in Bavaria are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and are awaiting the results of a toxicology test to shed light on the incident. Snake charming practices, where snakes are allowed to crawl over guests and placed around their necks, have faced criticism from animal rights organizations for being dangerous and inhumane.

Cobras, known for their highly venomous nature, possess neurotoxic venom that can swiftly attack the central nervous system, leading to paralysis and respiratory failure. Without prompt intervention such as antivenom or mechanical ventilation, a bite from a venomous snake like the King Cobra can prove fatal within a short period.

While snake charming remains a controversial practice, it continues to be a tourist attraction in various parts of the world, drawing scrutiny for its potential risks and ethical concerns related to animal welfare.
