Former rugby player Lewis Moody, known for his time with Leicester Tigers and Bath, has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to raise awareness about Motor Neurone Disease after being diagnosed with the condition in September. Moody, 47, remains positive and considers himself fortunate to follow in the footsteps of others like Doddie Weir and Rob Burrow in shedding light on this disease.

In an interview with Mail Online, Moody emphasized his optimistic outlook on life despite the challenges he faces. He highlighted the importance of living in the present and focusing on day-to-day priorities. Moody also mentioned making preparations for future needs, such as modifying his home for accessibility and recording his voice as a precaution.

Reflecting on his diagnosis announcement last October alongside his wife Annie, Moody shared the emotional impact on his family, particularly his sons Dylan and Ethan. Dylan overheard part of the conversation about the diagnosis, leading to a controlled reaction, while Ethan displayed raw emotion upon learning the news.

Moody acknowledged the difficulty of seeing his children’s initial reactions but noted that they are coping well since then. He remains committed to using his platform to support others and raise awareness about the challenges posed by Motor Neurone Disease.
