Two individuals have been taken into custody following a tragic accident where a 17-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a collision with a car. The incident occurred at Northam Bridge in Southampton around 1:20 am on Saturday, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
According to Hampshire Constabulary, two males, aged 17 and 29, were in a silver VW Polo that collided with a white Yamaha YZF. They have been arrested on suspicion of causing death due to careless or inconsiderate driving and are currently being held in custody. The young motorcyclist, hailing from Fareham, Hampshire, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The authorities expressed gratitude to motorists for their understanding as Northam Bridge had to be closed for several hours before reopening. Hampshire Constabulary also appealed for witnesses, especially those with dash cam footage of the incident or its lead-up, to come forward.
