A joyful outing turned tragic for Brittany Clark during a hike in Florida’s Little Big Econ State Forest. While enjoying the waters of Econlockhatchee River with her boyfriend and best friend, a 13ft alligator suddenly attacked her, causing severe injuries.
Witnesses described the alligator’s “death roll” attack, a hunting technique where the gator spins rapidly to immobilize its prey. Despite heroic efforts by her boyfriend, Chance, to save her, Brittany tragically lost both arms in the vicious attack.
Paramedics were called urgently as Brittany bled profusely from her injuries. Despite the desperate attempts to save her, she succumbed to her wounds on the way to the hospital.
Following the incident, two alligators, including the one responsible for the attack, were captured and euthanized by wildlife authorities. The investigation into the tragic event remains ongoing.
In a heartfelt tribute, Brittany’s best friend, Jayden, remembered her as a loving and selfless individual. The community has rallied around the family, with a GoFundMe campaign set up to bring Brittany’s remains back to her hometown in California.
Brittany, known for her love of pets and passion for firearms and motorcycles, left a lasting impact on those around her. As the hiking trail where the attack occurred is temporarily closed, authorities remind the public of the rare occurrence of such incidents and the territorial nature of alligators during mating season.
To support Brittany’s family, the GoFundMe page has been established in her memory.
