Passengers faced disruptions as a significant number of flights were canceled by major airlines, causing delays and inconvenience. Capital Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, China Eastern Airlines, and Pakistan International Airlines collectively experienced delays affecting nearly 500 flights across various Asian airports such as Shanghai Pudong and Islamabad International Airport. The cancellations led to challenges for passengers, including missed connections, overcrowded waiting areas, and long queues at Shanghai and Beijing airports.

In a separate incident, Aer Lingus announced plans to cancel approximately 500 flights due to mandatory maintenance on their aircraft. The airline assured that most affected customers would be rebooked on same-day services. Similarly, Ryanair’s CEO warned of potential flight cancellations during the summer months due to escalating jet fuel costs, suggesting that passengers should attribute any cancellations to external factors rather than the airlines themselves.

Meanwhile, Air Canada disclosed plans to suspend services to New York’s JFK International Airport over the summer due to jet fuel shortages caused by the conflict in Iran. Flights from Toronto and Montreal to JFK will halt on June 1 and resume on October 25, while services to LaGuardia and Newark airports will continue as usual. Air Canada will assist affected customers with alternative travel options as necessary.

As jet fuel prices surge amid geopolitical tensions, airlines are adjusting schedules to maintain profitability. The Montreal-based carrier highlighted the economic challenges posed by the Iran conflict, leading to necessary changes in flight operations to adapt to the evolving market conditions.
