Masked individuals were captured on CCTV launching firebombs at a Muslim prayer room in Blackburn, Lancashire, marking the second attack on the premises within a week. The incident occurred at 2:30 am on Tuesday when unidentified individuals threw lit bottles of accelerant, causing the spiritual room at Café Raha to catch fire. A similar episode had taken place at the location the previous week, but authorities have stated that there is no evidence to suggest that either assault was driven by racial motives.

Video footage revealed a group of men, masked with balaclavas, hurling firebombs through the windows of the building, igniting a blaze. Firefighters responded to extinguish the flames, with the police launching an investigation into the matter. Lancashire police clarified that while the motive behind the attack is still being determined, there is currently no indication of racial or religious bias.

In a statement, Lancashire police expressed their awareness of the distress such incidents can cause in the local and wider communities, reassuring residents of an active police investigation and increased patrols in the area to enhance security. The owner of the establishment, Mohammed Awais, expressed dismay over the attacks, emphasizing the impact on livelihoods and appealing for a peaceful resolution to any grievances.

Furthermore, Mohammed Awais extended gratitude to the fire services and a vigilant neighbor who promptly alerted authorities. He questioned the reason for targeting the prayer room, highlighting its distinct features visible from the outside. The Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident, stating that three fire engines responded to a fire at a single-story building on Whalley New Road in Blackburn.
