More than 100 individuals had to be evacuated following a fire that engulfed a hotel in Malaga. Smoke could be observed from a distance as the fire erupted at approximately 1:25 am on Monday, emanating from the Ibis Hotel. Witnesses mentioned flames originating from the hotel’s basement on Cerrojo Street. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Throughout the day, fire crews have been diligently working to contain the blaze. Initially affecting the first floor, the fire quickly spread through the building, with flames visible through hotel room windows. Across Malaga, residents noted seeing a significant smoke plume from their residences.
In response to the fire, Malaga City Council announced on social media that two additional crews, each with a fire engine, had joined the four teams present at the scene since 3:30 pm. Presently, six fire crews are actively combating the blaze, employing two aerial ladder trucks, four fire engines, and three water tankers.
Emergency teams from the Andalusian Health Service have not required treating anyone thus far. As reported by El Español, emergency services successfully evacuated over 100 guests from the affected hotel.
