A father, identified as Wayne Taylor, tragically lost his life while attempting to rescue his two children at a beach in Hartlepool, UK. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 12, at Seaton Carew beach when the children encountered difficulties in the sea.
Wayne Taylor courageously entered the water with another beachgoer, Davey Short, and a third unnamed man in an effort to save the children. Unfortunately, both Wayne and the unnamed man lost their lives before being able to rescue the children.
The RNLI responded to the scene around 3.45pm and recovered the bodies of the two men from the sea. Thankfully, the children were unharmed, thanks in part to the assistance of other beach visitors, and were later taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Superintendent Glen Ward of Cleveland Police expressed condolences to the families of the deceased men, emphasizing the risks associated with open water. He urged the public to exercise caution and avoid entering open water to prevent tragic incidents like this.
A tribute on Facebook honored Wayne Taylor’s heroism, describing him as a cherished friend and an irreplaceable figure. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to support Wayne Taylor’s family, aiming to cover funeral expenses and provide assistance to his children. The fundraiser has already raised over £31,000 for the family.
