Detective Inspector Found Dead on Whiterocks Beach

A detective inspector’s body was discovered on Whiterocks Beach in Portrush, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland, as reported by local authorities.

Emergency services responded to the scene upon the tragic finding, prompting the establishment of cordons and advising the public to steer clear of the area, as per Belfast Live.

Deputy mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Richard Brown Stewart, expressed shock over the incident, describing it as a distressing discovery for the town.

“The news of a body found at Whiterocks beach this morning deeply saddened me,” he stated, extending his sympathies to the deceased’s family, friends, and loved ones during what he acknowledged as a challenging and upsetting period for them.

He also commended the emergency services and all involved in the response for their professionalism, dignity, and care, urging people to respect the family’s privacy as inquiries progress.

In a prior statement, a PSNI spokesperson confirmed the discovery of the body on the beach at Whiterocks and urged the public to avoid the area due to ongoing police presence.

Earlier on the same day, another man’s body was found in the river at Kilbroney Park near Rostrevor, Co Down, where authorities were called at 8:45 am. The spokesperson mentioned that while a post-mortem is scheduled, the death is presently not considered suspicious.

Regarding the Kilbroney Park incident, independent councilor Mark Gibbons expressed gratitude to the emergency services and the public for their compassionate and professional handling of the somber situation.
