Three pedestrians sustained injuries when a vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a bowling alley following a collision. The incident occurred on Derby Road in Ilkeston, specifically at the junction of Oakwell Drive, resulting in a five-hour road closure.
Authorities were alerted to the situation after the car rammed through the side of MFA Bowl just before 5 pm on Friday, June 12. Derbyshire police later announced that Callum Thompson from Ilkeston has been charged with various offenses, including criminal damage, reckless endangerment, failure to provide a specimen for analysis, assault, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The 21-year-old suspect is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear at Derby Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 15. Images captured at the scene depict the extensive damage caused by the vehicle crashing into the bowling alley.
Upon assessment by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue, structural damage to the building was confirmed due to the sizable hole left by the impact. MFA Bowl management stated that the premises will remain closed following the incident, citing circumstances beyond their control.
In a social media announcement, MFA Bowl expressed gratitude to the emergency services for their assistance and reassured the public that they would reopen once permitted. They also thanked everyone for the supportive messages and well-wishes during this challenging time.
