A 56-year-old British mother, Wendy Duffy, who expressed a desire to end her life despite not having a terminal illness, is making her way to a Swiss euthanasia facility, marking a significant case of assisted dying.
Originally hailing from the West Midlands and previously working as a caregiver, Wendy made a payment of £10,000 to conclude her life at the Pegasos clinic. Following the loss of her 23-year-old son, Marcus, four years ago, she decided to embark on this journey to Switzerland.
Despite undergoing extensive therapy and taking antidepressants for years, Wendy has struggled to come to grips with her son’s passing. She joins a group of numerous Britons who have opted to travel to Switzerland for assisted dying following the initial reading of the Assisted Dying Bill in the UK’s House of Lords on June 23, 2025.
