A young British child has allegedly been abducted by his father in Cyprus. Local authorities reported that a 29-year-old Turkish Cypriot man took the two-year-old boy from his British mother’s residence in the popular tourist destination of Limassol after unlawfully crossing from the northern part of the island.

The father, accompanied by an associate, forcibly entered the house, seized the child, and escaped in a small white car. A search is currently underway to locate him, with law enforcement already inspecting the vehicle used in the getaway.

Authorities suspect that the man has fled back to the Turkish-occupied northern territories of the island, prompting a special task force to be alerted to the situation. Limassol’s deputy police chief, Lefteris Kyriakou, announced that an arrest warrant will be issued for the father, who is also wanted for a previous domestic violence incident in November 2025.

The child’s mother is reportedly enrolled in the ‘Hope’ program, which provides assistance to victims of domestic abuse, as per local news outlet Protothema.
