A young boy suffered injuries when sharp pieces of glass were reportedly attached to a slide in a local park. The 10-year-old boy’s mother explained that his clothing was torn, and he received a minor cut while playing at a park on Mill Road in Cardiff. The incident occurred between 2 pm and 4 pm, and the boy, unaware of the glass fragments on the slide, experienced the mishap.
The mother shared that her son, accompanied by his grandmother, sister, and cousin, was playing at the park when he used the slide with the glued glass pieces. Subsequently, the boy expressed his distress, stating he no longer felt comfortable visiting that particular play area.
Expressing her frustration, the mother mentioned that her son’s shorts were ripped, and although he sustained a small cut, he was fortunately not seriously harmed. The boy, expressing his lack of trust in the park, conveyed to his grandmother that he did not wish to return.
Following the incident, the mother reported the matter to the police and attempted to reach out to the local council for assistance. A cautionary sign has been placed on the slide warning other park visitors against using glass on the equipment.
According to a spokesperson from South Wales Police, a report was received on July 31 at approximately 1:20 pm regarding glass shards affixed to a slide in a park in Ely. The incident resulted in a child sustaining a minor injury and damage to their attire. Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
