Bournemouth has taken action against defender Alex Jimenez following allegations of inappropriate communication with a 15-year-old. The 21-year-old, who joined from AC Milan last year, will not participate in the upcoming Premier League match against Fulham.
The club has initiated an investigation into the matter after social media posts surfaced concerning Jimenez. As a result, he has been excluded from the squad for the Fulham game, with the club refraining from further comments at this stage.
Bournemouth’s head coach, Andoni Iraola, mentioned in a press conference that the club is conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the facts before proceeding. Jimenez, valued at £15 million, has been a standout performer for Bournemouth this season, potentially leading them to a European qualification.
Jimenez, who started his career in Spain, was noticed by top clubs like Bayern Munich and Chelsea during his time at Real Madrid. After a loan spell at AC Milan, the move was made permanent. He has also represented Spain at various youth levels.
With Bournemouth triggering a buy option in Jimenez’s loan contract with AC Milan, they are set to secure his services permanently in the upcoming summer. The player has contributed significantly to Bournemouth’s success this season, including a crucial goal against Liverpool.
Bournemouth’s impressive league position has put them in contention for a historic Champions League spot, a first in the club’s long history. This possibility arises due to Aston Villa’s involvement in the Europa League final, potentially opening up a top-six finish for Bournemouth.
