Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has advised against attending Moscow’s Victory Day Parade due to reported concerns of a potential attack by Russian President Putin. This warning came shortly after Moscow issued an evacuation order for foreign diplomats and citizens in Kyiv in anticipation of a potential missile strike.

Russia has threatened to retaliate with a devastating attack on the city if the celebrations on Saturday are disrupted. Zelensky, in a social media address, revealed that Ukraine was aware of representatives from Russia-aligned countries planning to participate in Moscow events but strongly discouraged attendance.

Expressing disapproval of Moscow’s intentions, Zelensky criticized the desire to hold a parade while continuing aggression towards Ukraine. He highlighted the ominous discussions of post-May 9 strikes by Russian officials, labeling it as a twisted logic.

Despite Zelensky’s comments preceding Russia’s ceasefire extension announcement until May 10, tensions remain high. Zelensky accused Putin of disregarding proposed ceasefires in favor of ongoing attacks on Ukraine, portraying him as a leader fixated on conflict rather than peace.

As Putin prepares to attend the parade on Saturday, security measures have been heightened in Moscow. Snipers and machine gunners have been stationed at the Kremlin, alongside armored vehicles equipped with anti-drone weapons. The Kremlin’s security has been fortified with soldiers in special units deployed strategically throughout the area.

Security checkpoints have been established at the entrances to the Russian capital as a precautionary measure. The atmosphere remains tense as concerns persist over potential provocations during the event.
