Ukraine disregarded Moscow’s self-imposed ceasefire by launching multiple drone attacks on Russia overnight and into Friday morning, causing a significant fire at a crucial oil refinery. The Yaroslavl plant, located nearly 500 miles from the Ukrainian border, was destroyed amidst the onslaught of Kyiv’s ‘kamikaze’ weapons aimed at various targets across more than a dozen Russian regions, prompting retaliatory strikes from Moscow.

This incident marked another instance of Ukraine’s long-range assaults deep inside Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Moscow’s actions, emphasizing the ongoing conflict and loss of life inflicted by the Russian forces. The attack on the Yaroslavl plant, an essential facility for Russia’s war financing, was hailed as a rightful act of justice by Ukrainian authorities.

In response to Russian aggression in Ukrainian territories, Ukraine continued to enforce long-range sanctions against Russian incursions. The escalation of hostilities led to over 140 attacks and a staggering 850 drone strikes from the Russian side, despite the declared Victory Day ceasefire. Additionally, Russian ground troops launched multiple assaults on Ukrainian positions, with a significant attack near a military facility in Rostov-on-Don.

The Kremlin’s declared ceasefire for the Victory Day period was overshadowed by the intensified conflict, with reports of numerous downed Ukrainian drones in the Moscow region. The clashes resulted in disruptions at Moscow’s airports and widespread damage caused by flying debris. The situation escalated further as explosions were reported throughout the night, accompanied by a large fire in the industrial area of Rostov-on-Don.

The conflict took a more critical turn as both sides engaged in military actions, undermining the temporary cessation proposed by the Kremlin for the Victory Day celebrations. Ukrainian President Zelensky criticized the ceasefire attempt as a mere theatrical performance, vowing to respond to Russian attacks with proportional measures.

As tensions continue to rise, concerns over the Moscow parade’s diminished display of weaponry and equipment have emerged. Reports suggest that Russia is facing substantial casualties and logistical challenges due to the prolonged conflict since the invasion in February 2022. Amidst the turmoil, speculations arise about Vladimir Putin’s safety measures, including working from secure underground bunkers to shield himself from potential threats.
