A man has barricaded himself inside a bank in Downtown Bakersfield, California, reportedly wearing a bomb device. Law enforcement officers are already on the scene. The situation is still developing, and it is uncertain if any hostages are involved.

Authorities have set up an exclusion zone in the vicinity, urging the public to avoid the area. Evacuations are ongoing, and certain city buildings, including City Hall North, City Hall South, the Development Services Building, and Bakersfield Police Headquarters, have been locked down as a precaution.

The individual has taken at least one person hostage, prompting negotiators to intervene. The incident has led to the closure of streets between 18th and Truxtun Avenue and Chester to H Streets due to a bomb threat. The Bakersfield Police Department has confirmed the active hostage situation at the Chase Bank location. The suspect, a male, has allegedly made bomb threats and is believed to have a bomb strapped to himself.

The situation is being closely monitored by law enforcement as efforts continue to safely resolve the hostage crisis.
