An individual described as “armed and dangerous” is being sought as the main suspect in an explosion in Monaco that resulted in critical injuries to a Ukrainian oligarch, a woman, and a teenage boy.
Interpol, the global law enforcement organization, is getting ready to issue a red notice for the woman in her thirties after a warrant for her arrest was issued.
Although not publicly named yet, the woman was caught on camera outside the Sun’s Palace, a high-end apartment building owned by victim Vadym Yermolaiev, where she is believed to have left a backpack that exploded in the foyer.
It is suspected that she triggered the device from a distance of about 12 meters shortly before 9 pm.
According to a source close to the investigation, a witness identified the main suspect as a Ukrainian woman in her thirties.
Surveillance footage showed the woman wearing a black bucket hat and long-sleeved clothing as she fled on foot into France without encountering any border checks.
Reports suggest that the suspect was headed towards Beausoleil in France and has since traveled on to Italy.
The source stated that she is considered armed and dangerous and may have accomplices with her, advising extreme caution in approaching her.
French and Monégasque legal authorities have initiated a criminal inquiry into charges of attempted murder, placing an explosive device on a public road with criminal intent, and criminal conspiracy.
Stéphane Thibault, the Monaco prosecutor leading the investigation, mentioned, “We are working to apprehend the suspect.”
