Emergency responders rushed to a location in northern Prince George on Thursday following reports of a small aircraft making an emergency landing on a busy street. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. PT on Foothills Boulevard close to Highland Drive, as confirmed by the Prince George RCMP.
Witness Mohit Arora recounted how he had just turned onto Foothills Boulevard when the plane unexpectedly landed. He described how the aircraft’s left wing collided with a pickup truck, injuring the truck’s driver, who fortunately survived. Arora also mentioned that the plane’s propeller narrowly missed hitting his own vehicle.
According to Arora, the situation was alarming, and he felt fortunate that his car escaped being hit by the plane’s propeller. RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper stated that the scene was being assessed by various first responders from the area and noted that two additional vehicles were also involved in the incident.
Cooper emphasized that it was too early to determine the extent of any potential injuries. Prince George Fire Rescue issued a statement acknowledging their response to a significant motor vehicle incident involving an aircraft. The Transportation Safety Board disclosed that the aircraft involved was a Beech King Air 200 and announced plans to dispatch a team to investigate the matter in Prince George.
Photographs taken by Arora depicted the damaged aircraft with a broken propeller on the road, alongside a yellow car that had crashed and a pickup truck with debris from the plane lodged in its windshield. The aircraft exhibited visible damage to one of its wings. Authorities advised the public to steer clear of the area, warning that the road closure would persist for an extended period.
The incident remains under investigation, with updates expected in due course.
