“National Rail Warns of Major Disruptions in North-West England”

National Rail has issued a warning about significant train disruptions affecting Greater Manchester and the north-west of England.

The root cause of the issue is an electrical breakdown at a communications center, resulting in trains being either canceled, rescheduled, or delayed for up to an hour.

Operators such as Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, Northern, TransPennine Express, and Transport for Wales are all experiencing service interruptions.

National Rail anticipates the disruptions to persist until the end of the day and has removed the Midlands from the affected regions list.

Despite the removal of the Midlands, major disruptions are still foreseen in Greater Manchester and the north-west of England throughout the day.

Train services in Greater Manchester, the Midlands, and the north-west of England are facing disruptions due to an electrical malfunction at a communications center.

East Midlands Railway has issued travel advice which includes information that Macclesfield is currently not being served due to the ongoing disruptions.

For customers with canceled services, Avanti West Coast allows travel on alternative services before or after the original booking without extra charges.

During the disruption, Off-Peak ticket restrictions have been eased, and customers can request full refunds for delayed or canceled trips from the ticket seller.

Northern and TransPennine Express have advised their customers not to embark on their journeys given the circumstances.

Northern passengers can utilize their tickets on additional services without extra charges in the affected regions, including Advance and Peak services.
