In a statement to the Mirror, a spokesperson stated, “Early this morning, a small boat caught fire along the French and British waters boundary, resulting in its passengers having to enter the water. Prompt responses from French and British rescue services led to the rescue of 157 individuals, who are now being brought ashore at Boulogne-sur-Mer for further assistance by the fire and rescue service (SDIS) and government-appointed organizations.”
As of now, there have been no reported casualties, and the rescue operation is still in progress.

A spokesperson from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency mentioned, “A vessel caught fire earlier this morning within the French search and rescue region, with UK vessels and a lifeboat providing assistance.”
The RNLI spokesperson commented, “Eastbourne’s all-weather lifeboat was deployed at 6 am today for an incident.”
