The 20-month-old toddler was rushed to Fuerteventura General Hospital in critical condition before being airlifted to a hospital on Gran Canaria. Unfortunately, the boy succumbed to the heat-related illness at Materno Infantil University Hospital in Las Palmas.

The child was reportedly forgotten in the vehicle parked near the Cristo Rei shrine in Almada. Despite numerous passersby near the tourist spot, no one noticed the child inside the closed vehicle with temperatures hitting 30C.
The girl’s mother discovered her absence when she went to pick her up from the nursery in the afternoon. Emergency services were called, but the child was found in critical condition and could not be revived. The nursery involved, Colegio Mestre Cuco, is now under police investigation.
