Parts of the United Kingdom are set to experience high temperatures reaching up to 34C, surpassing popular vacation spots such as Santorini and Barcelona. Southern England will welcome “hot and very humid air” on Monday, with temperatures quickly climbing into the mid-30s. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued yellow and amber heat health warnings for England in response to the intense heat.

Meteorologist Tom Morgan from the Met Office mentioned that England and Wales will enjoy abundant sunshine, leading to a rapid increase in temperatures, especially in the southeast where it could reach the mid-30s. Additionally, Tuesday night is expected to be tropical in the south with temperatures remaining above 20 in some areas.

While Northern Ireland and Scotland may experience rain on Monday, England and Wales are forecasted to stay dry with clear spells, resulting in a warmer night compared to the previous one. Tomorrow, destinations like Barcelona and Santorini will see cooler temperatures than parts of southern England, with peaks of 30C and 26C, respectively.

An amber heat health warning will cover the East Midlands, East of England, London, and South East of England from 9 am tomorrow until 9 am on Wednesday. This warning signifies potential significant impacts on health and social care services due to the high temperatures. The North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, West Midlands, and South West are under a yellow heat health warning for the same period, indicating possible impacts on health and social care services.

The weather forecast for Monday includes rain in Scotland, scattered showers in Northern Ireland and western regions, while most of England and Wales will experience fine weather with hot sunshine and high humidity. The Government recently announced that half of England is now facing drought conditions, including East Anglia, Hertfordshire, London, Thames Valley, Hampshire & the Isle of Wight, Devon & Cornwall, the West Midlands, Wessex, and the entirety of Wales.
