Some initial showers in the south will give way to drier weather starting from Thursday.

In England, 116 out of 153 council areas are likely to receive some rainfall. The most significant downpour is anticipated in the afternoon in northern England, with over 32mm of rain expected in the Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire. Heavy rain is also forecasted for Cornwall, Devon, Newcastle, and the Scottish Borders later in the day, primarily in the form of a northeastward-moving band of cloud followed by scattered showers.
Temperature-wise, typical August weather is expected, with Belfast forecasted to reach 23C, Cardiff and Manchester at 25C, Edinburgh at 20C, and London at a warmer 28C.
