The family of a US tourist who disappeared while swimming in Grenada is returning home after an extensive search. Elizabeth Waddell, 44, was last seen entering the water at Grand Anse Beach but never resurfaced. Despite efforts to locate her, the family has decided to head back to the US.
Elizabeth’s husband, Cailen, expressed gratitude for the support received and the ongoing investigation. He acknowledged the kindness of the Grenadian people and thanked donors who contributed to the search fund. Cailen also shared a heartfelt message about his cherished memories with Elizabeth, describing her as an experienced traveler and adventurer.
Authorities in Grenada are treating the case as a missing person investigation with no signs of foul play. Heather, Elizabeth’s friend, raised the alarm when she failed to return from her swim, leading to a search operation involving the Grenada Coast Guard and other units. The FBI and the US Embassy have been notified as the search for Elizabeth continues.
