Parts of the UK are set to experience scorching highs of 35C today, as per the latest forecast from the Met Office. However, a significant cool-down is expected next week, with temperatures dropping well below the seasonal norm. The GFS weather model indicates a notable decrease in temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday, with some regions seeing highs as low as 16C in the south-east, 14C in South Wales and the Midlands, 12C in Northern Ireland, and a chilling 7C in northern Scotland.
Throughout the day, temperatures are not projected to rise significantly, with the warmest region being the far south-west at 19C in the afternoon, and as low as 9C in northern England. Wednesday doesn’t promise much relief either, with temperatures ranging from 6C in northern Scotland to 14C in the south-east of England.
The forecast shows that 22 counties could experience daytime temperatures below 10C across the two days, mainly in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England. The Met Office suggests that changeable conditions are on the horizon for next week, with the possibility of heavy rain and strong winds in some areas. However, there is optimism for a more settled weather pattern towards the end of the first week of August.
