A young child faced a life-threatening situation after ingesting cocaine, prompting emergency responders to act swiftly upon discovering the two-year-old struggling to breathe. Law enforcement officials on the Jersey Shore in the United States disclosed the arrest of a 39-year-old man named Alexander T. Moles on charges of endangering a child following a distress call on July 20 regarding the ill toddler. Upon arrival, responders learned that the child was being rushed to the emergency room due to breathing difficulties. Paramedics administered two doses of Naloxone nasal spray, also known as NARCAN, which elicited a positive response from the child. NARCAN is an anti-opioid medication effective only in the presence of opioids in the system.
Subsequently, the toddler was transported to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional for further medical evaluation, and subsequent blood tests confirmed the presence of cocaine in the child’s system. During a search of Moles’s Airbnb residence authorized by a judge, authorities discovered a pill, tinfoil packets labeled as “tapentadol hydrochloride,” a plastic bag containing a white powder substance, and multiple short plastic straws.
A collaborative investigation was launched by the Wildwood Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, as per a statement from New Jersey prosecutors. It was revealed that Alexander T. Moles was vacationing in Wildwood, New Jersey, when the toddler fell ill.
In response to the initial findings, Alexander T. Moles was arrested on July 21, 2026, and charged with multiple offenses, including child endangerment, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of prescription legend drugs. The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office outlined the potential prison terms for the respective charges, with Moles being detained at the Cape May County Correctional Facility before being released on bail under specific conditions three days later.
