A heartless pet owner subjected his trio of dogs to living in deplorable conditions amidst shattered glass and ruined furniture until they were eventually rescued.

The unfortunate canines were found without access to food or water, residing in what animal welfare organizations described as appalling circumstances. Connor Stewart, the owner, admitted guilt to violating animal welfare laws.

The dire state of the dogs’ living conditions was evident even when inspectors from the Scottish SPCA peered into Stewart’s residence through the letterbox in Livingstone. Upon being instructed to return and grant the dogs access, Stewart brought out his two Dobermans, Ammo and Karma, along with the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Kya.

Ammo appeared malnourished, with visible ribs and hips, and overgrown nails. An inspector remarked on the squalid state of the flat, mentioning soaked floors covered in urine and thick layers of feces, broken furniture, shattered glass, and electric shock collars charging in the kitchen area.

The inspector noted the absence of food and water in the bowls, deeming the conditions among the worst encountered. Consequently, all three dogs were removed from the property and taken into the care of the Scottish SPCA.

Police Scotland were called to assist in the removal of the animals, but Stewart absconded with his Dobermans. Kya, the remaining Staffordshire Bull Terrier, was transported to a local veterinary facility for further attention.

Kya emitted a strong odor of urine and feces and drank excessively due to prolonged water deprivation. Following his admission of guilt, Stewart was recently sentenced and prohibited from owning, keeping, or caring for animals for five years, in addition to being fined £200.

The inspector expressed satisfaction with the court’s ruling, condemning Stewart’s behavior as unacceptable and highlighting his blatant disregard for the well-being of his dogs. The hope is that this sentencing serves as a strong message that animal neglect will not be tolerated in Scotland.
