Kate and Gerry McCann were in attendance to support their son Sean at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Sean, along with his twin sister Amelie, was representing Scotland in the 400m individual freestyle swimming event. The proud parents watched as Sean showcased his skills in the competition.

Kate, aged 58, sported a t-shirt with the phrase ‘Yes Sir, I can boogie,’ a nod to the popular 1977 hit by Baccara, which has become a well-known Scottish football anthem. Sean and Amelie, now 21 years old, were just toddlers when their sister Madeleine went missing from their holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007.

Sean, who studies chemical engineering at Loughborough University, has a strong passion for swimming. His dedication to the sport has been evident since he started competing at the age of eight. Despite being raised in England, Sean competes for Scotland due to his father’s Scottish heritage. He has been part of the Scottish Swimming program since his teenage years.

Having previously excelled in various swimming competitions, Sean has set his sights on future challenges, including the 2026 Commonwealth Games and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. His journey in competitive swimming has been marked by hard work and commitment, with early morning training sessions and rigorous workout routines contributing to his success.

Sean’s participation in the Commonwealth Games marks another milestone in his swimming career, as he continues to strive for excellence in the sport. His family’s unwavering support and his own determination have propelled him to achieve remarkable feats in the pool, with a bright future ahead in competitive swimming.
