The duo visited The Pineapple pub in Kentish Town, north London, as Andy Burnham assembled his Cabinet. Despite the recent changes, both Starmer and Reeves appeared in high spirits as captured in photos. Starmer engaged in conversations and checked his phone while holding a pint, later seen leaning by the door and engaging in phone conversations.
The Pineapple pub, known as northwest London’s cherished local pub, offers a variety of drinks and Thai cuisine. It is uncertain whether the group indulged in any of the food offerings. Starmer expressed satisfaction with his work before leaving Downing Street, stating he departs with pride for the accomplishments achieved.
As Starmer handed over the reins to Burnham, who is now the UK’s seventh Prime Minister since 2016, he wished him success. Reeves, surrounded by friends and colleagues, enjoyed a glass of wine at the pub and shared an embrace with one of her aides. Despite being offered the position of Defence Secretary, Reeves declined the role. She reflected on her time as Chancellor of the Exchequer, emphasizing the positive impact on the economy under the Labour Government’s leadership.
Reeves also encouraged young women to pursue their ambitions without limitations and extended her support to Burnham’s cabinet. She expressed confidence in contributing to the Labour government’s efforts to bring about necessary changes for the country.
