A well-known furniture retailer that faced financial collapse earlier this year is on the brink of a comeback following its rescue from liquidation. Alinea, a prominent European furniture brand, is poised to reenter the market after being acquired by MH France, the French arm of the Chinese e-commerce giant Aosom. The acquisition was sanctioned by French courts on July 9, 2026, and formally announced by MH France’s CEO, Emmanuel Benichou, on July 11.
Benichou announced the successful acquisition on his LinkedIn profile, highlighting the significance of Alinea as a longstanding brand that has made a lasting impact on French consumers since its establishment in 1988. He expressed optimism for the brand’s future under the new ownership, emphasizing that it marks the beginning of a new era for Alinea.
As part of the revival plan, Alinea will relaunch its online store soon, followed by the establishment of a franchise-based retail network. MH France aims to maintain Alinea’s unique identity by blending French and European design influences with imported products. Further details regarding the retailer’s long-term vision will be disclosed in the upcoming weeks.
The resurgence of Alinea comes after a period of significant challenges that ultimately led to its closure in March. Placed under administration in late 2025, the business went into liquidation on March 31, 2026, resulting in the shutdown of all 36 stores and the termination of approximately 1,200 employees. Despite facing setbacks, Alinea is now making a remarkable comeback, with Benichou underscoring the responsibility and potential accompanying the brand’s revival.
Benichou cautioned customers to remain vigilant during the brand’s relaunch, warning of potential scams targeting eager consumers. MH France, known for its presence in various e-commerce platforms and diverse brand offerings, is set to steer Alinea towards a promising future in the retail landscape.
